Helper Variables 997 Values Recoded in H00E_R
In prior releases, the OPN values used for certain questions about helpers which appear in the respondent-level file, H00E_R, were different than the OPN values in the Helper file, H00E_HP or Household-Member/Child files, H00PR_MC, H00CS_MC, H00D_MC and H00J_MC.
For the variables in the list below which are found in the file H00E_R, values of 997 were used to indicate persons not previously mentioned. In order to facilitate merging this information, the OPN values for these variables have been recoded to be consistent with the OPN values found in the Helper and Household-Member/Child files.

Changes announced in an earlier data alert, 01/16/2003, have been implemented: Minor changes were made to eight variables. In total, 94 cases had values changed for one or more of these eight variables.

These changes were due to corrections in later versions of the data collection instrument specifications.

Incorrect user notes were replaced for non-financial/non-family/non-coversheet respondent QNR variables in household-level files, i.e., H00CS_H, H00CS_MC, H00D_FC, H00D_H, H00D_MC, H00D_SB, H00D_TC, H00F_H, H00J_H, H00J_MC, H00N_H, H00PR_MC, H00PR_SB, e.g.,
